But, of late, he has fallen in the habit of making comedies, with some South Indian film as the inspiration. Despite the laboured pace, Hera Pheri worked at the box office, chiefly because of the high voltage play-off between Akshay, Sunil and Paresh Rawal. Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal are back here, and so is Asrani, in a story that starts as a gharelu Hrishikesh Mukherjee film. But it then branches out to mix loud, north and south Indian slapstick. The result is funny at times, a bit worn-out in parts where comedy is used to carry forward predictable situations at a very laidback pace.
